HEAVY RAIN AT INGLEWOOD

THREE-INCH FALL IN EIGHT HOURS. Commencing about 9 o’clock in the morning very heavy rain fell at Inglewood throughout Monday without relaxing. Rivers in the district rose rapidly between 1 and 3 p.m., some having risen as much as from four to six feet in the two hours. Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. 2.93 inches of rain fell, which is a heavy fall for eight hours. So heavy was the rain that the water channels in the town could not cope with the water, the footpaths, and roads at times being flooded.
