WEST END CROQUET CLUB

CLOSING OF PLAYING SEASON. TROPHY PRESENTATIONS MADE. The West End Croquet Club brought its playing season to an end on Saturday in dull but fine weather. A full attendance of both playing and honorary members was present and a pleasant afternoon was spent in playing progressive croquet During the afternoon prizes won in the club’s competitions were presented, the successful players being: A championship singles and Tingey Cup, Mrs. Tingey; A handicap singles, Mrs. C. Ward; Dalgleish Rose Bowl, Mrs. E. Tingey; A, B and C handicaps doughles, Mesdames J. Turnbull and W. Beard (No. 1 competition), Mesdames Tingey and Roberts (No. 2 competition); B championship singles, Mrs. G. Pearson; B and C handicap singles, Mrs. Roberts; C handicap singles; Mrs. Roberts; progressive croquet, Miss Clark (senior), Mrs. W. Beard (junior). On behalf of the Taranaki association Mr. F. L. Hartnell, president handed to the club’s senior players the association vase awarded to the runners-up in the inter-club competition. The club members as an expression of goodwill presented to Mrs. Tingey (president), Mrs. Hartnell (honorary secretary), Mr. Jull (club camptain) and Mr. Hartnell (greenwarden) appropriate gifts.
