WELLINGTON WOMEN’S GOLF

QUALIFYING ROUND RESULTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The women’s Wellington provincial golf championship tournament opened to-day in wet, squally weather, but remarkably good cards were returned. Mrs. J. Wilson (Auckland champion) headed the qualifiers with 85 and 86. Next were Miss Hanson (Miramar) 173. Mrs. BarnesGraham (Gisborne) 175. Mrs. and Miss Chrystall (186) just failed to qualify. They head the list of sixteen to play off for the Heretaunga trophy. Miss J. Wilson (Auckland) won the first medal handicap with 76. Miss M. Peacock won the junior division. Miss Robinson won the second medal handicap. The teams match was won by Auckland with 359, Christchurch being second with 364. Betty Rutherford (Canterbury), 84, won the trophy for the best gross score in the qualifying round.
