HOSPITALITY AT RAROTONGA. COMPLETE SUCCESS OF TOUR. (By Radio. —Special to Press Association). From H.M.S. Diomede. H.M.S. Diomede left Rarotonga at 7.30 on Saturday evening but has been detained by slight mechanical trouble, necessitating repairs.

His Excellency during Saturday morning landed and went to see Karika, an important chief tainess and a descendant of a famous warlike family. Karika pre* sented his Excellency with beautiful mats and other gifts and . received presents from Lord and Lady Bledisloe. There was a large gathering of natives. Karika has a considerable following and influence. His Excellency subsequently took farewell of the European residents at th® wharf. Miss Tinirau’s choir sang a Rarotongan farewell song as the launch left for the warship. . The visit to the island has been most successful. The cordiality manifested could not have been exceeded. The Diomede will-arrive at Auckland at 7 o’clock on Friday morning.
