METHODIST BIBLE CLASS CAMP. The Taranaki Methodist Young Men’s Bible Class Union has concluded a very successful Easter camp at Inglewood. On Thursday 43 campers arrived from Stratford, Okato, Wharehuia, Hawera, Opunake, New Plymouth and Uruti, and encamped at the Inglewood public school. On Good Friday morning the campers paraded to the Inglewood church, where a service was conducted by the Rev. J. D. Grocott, Fitzroy. On Sunday morning the service was conducted by the Rev. H. V. Utting, Inglewood. The clergymen present gave talks and the Rev. F. Copeland, Whiteley Memorial Church, New Plymouth, gave a missionary talk on some of his experiences when he was a missionary' in Samoa. Mr. F. Gawith, Eltham, was listened to with great pleasure when he gave an astronomical talk on the moon. The Rev. W. B. Cuming, Waitara, was the preacher for the service held in camp on Sunday night The service was followed by the camp fellowship meeting, when the young men freely shared their experiences of Christian living. The main feature of the camp was the daily study hour, when the challenge of Christian living was discussed in such a way as to bring a greater realisation of the demands of Christianity in the world of to-day. The camp concert held on Saturday night was a feature of the social life of the camp. The concert was much appreciated by the many visitors. The camp sports were held in Jubilee Park on Monday, when all the events were keenly contested, as each class was anxious to win the much coveted sports banner, which was retained for the second year by the Wharehuia class. The winner of the senior championship was L. Jago, Wharehuia. The intermediate was won by J. Reed (Whiteley) and the junior by R. Bond (Inglewood). An elocution contest was conducted during the camp and was won by Dudley Wills (Hawera). The next camp is to be held at Hawera at Easter next year. Success at Sport. Throughout the Easter holidays all Inglewood sportsmen—with the exception of some of the fishermen—were very successful at their various games. On Saturday at the Waihi (Auckland) sports C. Parker and C. Burke, who were Ist and 2nd in the three miles cycle handicap, were both successful in breaking the Waihi record for that race. Although Parker conceded one lap and 30 yards and - Burke one lap both rode brilliantly to catch the limit men before the last lap. At the Otorohanga sports on Monday Parker won the five miles handicap cycle race while V. Robson won the one mile handicap and was fourth in the big wheel race of the day. In all his heats Robson was second. The consolation cycle race was won by E. Stockman, also of Inglewood. On Easter Saturday the Inglewood Rugby League team won the ten-a-side tournament at New Plymouth, while on Monday at Waitara the Inglewood ladies’ hockey team defeated the Waitara ladies in a match for a hockey ball. At bowling Inglewood was also prominent, for the Urenui one-day tournament was won by G. Mason, W. J. Smith, E. A. Lovell and H. Cottier (s). Several parties from Inglewood spent Easter fishing on the north coast with varied success. One party left at midnight on Thursday for Kawhia on a fishing expedition but when the car was near Tongaporutu it evidently thought better fishing could be had there, for it stopped and would not budge, so the party’s destination was not reached. The car was towed home to Inglewood by another party’s car yesterday.
