MOTOR-CYCLE NOTES
NEW PLYMOUTH. RACE MEETING. . (By “Speed.”) Excellent entries have been received so far for the motor-cycle races at Bell Block to-morrow. A grass track meeting has been contemplated for some time, but no suitable site has been available. Now that this has been secured the club hopes to conduct a successful meeting, as it is some tune since motor cycle races. were held in the vicinity of New Plymouth. The 'entries include several well-known riders of proved ability. Of the local riders perhaps the best favoured are J. Fenton, ;J; Fitzpatrick and I. Robertson, while X Hamilton and D. Moore, both of Stratford, are expected to do well. • Fenton, who holds the New Zealand lightweight championship, is expected to add still further victories to his credit to-morrow. In his racing at Hamilton he showed exceptional promise and the experience gained at that and subsequent meetings should prove invaluable to him. .
Another New Plymouth rider who is expected to dp .well is I. Robertson, who competed with success at the last Mangatoki. meeting... Though lacking the experience of Fenton, Robertson is regarded by many as his most dangerous rival and should prove a tough proposition in the future. ‘ .
J." Holmes has won at Mangatoki ‘ and should collect a share of the prize, money to-morrow. With the exception of J. Fenton, he has most experience of the local': riders, having ridden on two occasions in South Taranaki.
J. Fitzpatrick has lately acquired an overhead Douglas and will make his appearance on the track in the week-end. It is some time since he took part in competition. He has been a prominent rider in the past and his performance at the race meeting will be watched with interest.
Mr. H. Moller has. donated a trophy. The list of entries to date is: J. Hamilton (Norton), K. Goodin (Norton), D. Moore (Norton),' J. Fenton (Veto), F. Fenton (Velo), W. Phillips (Matchless), J.
