MAN SMASHES WINDOWS
“WORKLESS AND NEEDED FOOD.” £l6O DAMAGE AT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Six windows were broken in the Union Clothing Co. retail premises at the comer of Ghuznee Street and Cuba Street about ten o’clock to-night. An elderly man arrested gave as his reason for the action that he needed food and wished to be taken in charge. The man said he was unemployed. Onlookers say the man used a piece of piping, smashed six windows in rapid succession and waited for the police to arrive. The damage amounted to about £l6O.
