Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Robinson are the guests of Mrs. J. H. Robinson, Foxton.

Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Sutton are visiting Wellington.

Mr. and Mrs. W. Bright returned from Palmerston North during the week.

Miss Betty Ryan returned from Wellington on Wednesday.

Mrs. C. Bayley was hostess at two tables of bridge on Wednesday evening. Mrs. A. Coleman entertained a few friends at tea on Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. Davis, Invercargill, is staying with Mrs. Harvey, Glover Road. Mrs. N. Douglas, who has been staying with her mother, Mrs. C. H. Weston, has left to reside at Stratford.

On Wednesday afternoon Mrs. Welsh was ’hostess at an enjoyable party in honour of her niece, Miss Eileen Goodson, Wellington. Mrs. Welsh wore floral crepe de chine in tonings of beige, while the guest of honour wore a smart navy tailored costume. Among’those present were Mesdames Cox, A. Spratt, H. McWilliam and W. O. Williams, Misses G. Goodson, E. Buist and J. Powdrell. Mrs. Ogle entertained a number of friends on Tuesday afternoon. Among the guests were Mesdames Davis, Invercargill, Harvey, Lewis, A. Harrop, H. Jenkins, Gosnell, W. Syme and N. Stead.

Mrs. O. K. Torment was hostess on Tuesday after&on in honour of her guest, Miss Treaby, Christchurch. Mrs. Tennent chose a frock in a floral ninon while Miss Treaby wore blue crepe-de-chine. Among those present were Mesdames A. Good, R. Welsh, Duckworth, T. McWilliam, G. Buckeridge, Hill, Woodward, D. Caplen, Moorhouse and D. Cameron.

Mrs. Lewis was hostess on Wednesday afternoon, when the guests entertained were Mesdames Davie (Invercargill), H. Jenkins, J. Ogle, A. Harrop, N. Stead, Harvey, Gosnell and Miss Curtis. During the afternoon Mrs. Harvey and Miss Curtis entertained at the piano.

Miss Treaby, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs. O. K. Tennent.

A pleasant evening was spent on Monday when Miss Mitchell was hostess at a dinner party given at the Central Hotel. Following dinner a surprise visit was paid Mr. and Mrs. H. Swinbum. Among those present were Mesdames Bavin, Powell, H. Caselberg and Bramwell, and Miss Mitchell. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. H. Swinburn gave a party in honour of Miss Mitchell in the reception room of the Women’s Club. Mrs. Swinbum wore a frock of white and royal blue spotted silk. Miss Mitchell’s frock was in tonings of brown and yellow. Among the guests were Mesdames V. Powell, Caselberg, H. Bramwell and E. R. Bavin. Miss Mitchell left Hawera on Thursday morning for Dannevirke, where she will remain until Tuesday, prior to sailing by the Maunganui from Wellington. Miss A. Wills, who has spent the past fortnight at Stratford, has returned to Hawera.

Miss Dorothy Carson, Wellington, is spending a vacation with her sister, Miss H. Carson.

Miss Eileen Goodson has returned to Wellington.

Miss Hilda Carson was hostess at two tables of bridge on Thursday evening. Mrs. North, High Street, lent her home for the occasion.

Miss Betty Page, Hawera, has been appointed a staff nurse at the Napier hospital.

A party in aid of the funds of the Turuturu Tennis Club was held at the home of Mrs. M. Walsdorf, Waihi Road, on Tuesday. Games, competitions and dancing were enjoyed. A statue waltz was won by .Miss M. Woolliams and Mr. G. Graydon.
