TARANAKI A. AND P. SHOW

NEXT WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY New Plymouth is renowned all over the Dominiop for its outstanding A. and P. shows, and more interest than Over is being focussed upon next week’s fixture. Entries for the Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society’s 57th annual show to be held at New Plymouth on Wednesday and Thursday of next week have exceeded all expectations. Six hundred and eighty animals from all parts of the North Island will be seen in competition. But one of the most gratifying features from the point of view of the public is the wonderful increase in the light horse entries. It is many years since such a splendid array of horses has patronised a New Plymouth fixture. This assures interesting and attractive ring events. The dairy cattle, sheep and pigs will all be on display in such quality, and quantity that no farmer in the district can afford to miss inspecting them. A Dominion record for entries in pigs at any one show has been established at New Plymouth this year. No less than 186 pens of pedigree pigs will be on view. So great are the entries that the services of five judges have been engaged to judge the pigs alone. People’s Day, Thursday, will be made especially attractive to the public. A programme embracing steer-riding, sheep dog trials, trotting events, musical chairs on horseback, children’s pony events, leaping, riding and driving will be carried on in quick order. There will be no dull moments. A special broadcasting service will be provided so that the public will be informed regarding each event and the interesting features of the show. The band of H.M.S. Dunedin has consented to provide a programme of musical items. For those who enjoy the lighter side of the show there will be ample. Side-shows, meiry-go-rounds and games of all descriptions will be there in greater number and variety than ever. Further particular!) of this bright and attractive show appear in the advertising columns of this issue.
