The Invitation Handicap, six furlongs, was won by Quick Away in Im. 10 2-55., a new track record. Sundot was second a length and a-half away and Lemon Hills was third. Quick Away finished with a rush.

The New Zealander Tea Trader was last. Tea Trader, ridden by Johnny Maiden, carried 7.12, Quick Away carried 8.0, Lemon Hills 7.6 and Sundot 8.3. Quick Away soon pulled into the lead after a good start and opened up a gap of three lengths on Sundot by the time the turn was reached, with Tea Trader third and Lemon Hills trailing.
