LOCAL BUTTER PRICES
SCHEME OF STABILISATION. TEMPORARILY ABANDONED. Auckland, Feb. 15. A scheme for stabilisation of local butter prices, proposed by A. J. Sinclair, secretary-manager of the Te Awamutu Amalgamated Dairy Company, Limited, will not be proceeded with for the time being, owing to the action of the Goverement in raising the exchange rate. The scheme embraced an increase in local butter prices, thus giving a greater return to the industry. Mr. Sinclair said it was hoped to introduce the plan at the beginning of the next dairying season. Up to the present, 92 dairy factories with an aggregate output of 70,000 tons of butter had given their support. The scheme would be discussed at the annual conference of the National Dairy Association at Hamilton in June.
