EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT

ANNUAL MEETING AT WAVERLEY. GOOD SPORT AND SOUND FINANCE. The annual meeting of the EgmontWanganui Hunt Club was held at Waverley yesterday afternoon. Mr. J. E. Palmer presided. Mr. Palmer, in moving the adoption of the balance-sheet, remarked on the satisfactory credit balance of £l5 19s 6d. Most of the revenue was derived from the annual ball and the point-to-point meeting, both very successful functions. He thanked Messrs. J. Lupton, James Farr and T. Patterson for the use of their country for the point-to-point. Dr. W. T. Simmons, in seconding the motion, said the report showed that even without a race meeting the club could live within its income.' The outlook for next year would be much the same as last year, and what .had been achieved should be done this season again even if the club had no race meeting. Messrs. W. Berridge and W. Maxwell were elected new honorary members. A resignation from the club was accepted with regret from Mr. T. M/ Alexander. It. was resolved that hunts should again start at 1 p.m .during the forthcoming season. Mr. D. Lupton was again appointed to look after the point-to-point course and if necessary arrange for his own committee to help him. On behalf of the club Dr. Simmons moved a vote of thanks to those over whose property the club had hunted, to the ladies and those who had helped the club to carry on.

Dr. Simmons proposed that Mr. Alex Mitchell be appointed a life member. Mr. Mitchell was a very old member of the club and now that he was no longer taking such an active part in the actual hunting, it was thought desirable to recognise his worth for the club. Mr. Davidson seconded' the proposal, which was parried unanimously. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. Palmer; six vice-presidents; master, Dr. Simmons; deputy masters, Messrs. H. I. Crocker, S. G. Davidson, E. Davidson and E. Parsons; whips, Messrs. I. Parsons, W. Southcombe, R. Watkins; hon. treasurer, Mr. Palmer; hon. auditor, Mr. J. Currie; committee, Messrs. W. Hunter, I. Lupton, S. Besley, F. Shield, T. Lupton, D. R. Jackson, J. Sheahan, G. Twidle, R. Watkins, D. Lupton, I. Parsons. N. Parsons, G. Watkins, C. V. Pearce, G. Aiken. STRATFORD MEETING. PROGRAMME NOW COMPLETE. A programme of seven races submitted by the programme committee of the Stratford Racing Club for Saturday, April 1. has been approved at a meeting of the full committee for the races to b' held on Saturday, April 1. The programme is an excellent one, and shows that the club is continuing its policy of catering for hacks, no race being worth less than £BO and most £lOO.
