WESTOWN SCHOOL AFFAIRS

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The Westown School committee met at New Plymouth on Tuesday night, Mr. T. L. Aylward presiding. Notification was received from the Taranaki Education Board that Mr. A. A. Ross had been appointed probationary assistant for the term. The headmaster’s report disclosed a decline in roll numbers from 277 at the end of 1932 to a present roll of 238. Parents were, required to decided by March 11 if they wish their children to have treatment at the dental clinic during the year from April 1, 1933 to March 31, 1934. It was resolved to grant a whole holiday on the occasion of people’s day at the A. and P. show at New Plymouth on March 9. The date and place of the annual picnic were left to the staff to decided as was likewise the expenditure of funds for handwork material and sports gear.
