RAINBOW MIXTURE. Rainbow mixture is really uncooked mirripsn. and it should be made one or two days before it is required. Roll half a pound of icing sugar till there are no lumps left in it, then mix it in a basin with half a pound of ground almonds. Break up the whites of two / eggs, add a little at a time to the mixture, and knead it to a soft dough which does not stick to the fingers. Divide the mixture into three portions. Leave one white, colour one pink with cochineal, and fee other brown with cocoa. The cochineal and the cocoa should be well kneaded in, otherwise the mixture will look streaky. . Add more icing sugar if the mar7,ipan is too soft, and more white of egg if it is too stiff. Roll each portion to the same size and thickness. Place the brown portion on a piece of greaseproof paper, brush the top lightly with a little white of egg, put the white marzipan on this, brush over with white of egg, and place the pink on top. Cover with a piece of greaseproof paper, place a weight on the top of the whole, and leave till next day. Then cut into nice cubes, and serve in little paper cases.

TINKERBELL TELLS YOU.

HOW TO MAKE AN OWL. Dear Tinks,—Some of you are asking in your letters how to make an owl from * pine-cone. It is very, very simple and many of you may already know how to do it. Select a nice cone, fairly smooth and tapering at one end, to a nice point, as that will be the tail. Now, take the end where the cone has been joined to the branch by a tiny stem, and on each side of the stem-mark, glue on two pearl buttons for eyes—you will easily see then that the stem mark forms the beak. Take two short nails and put them in not quite half-way along the cone, making sure that (like all legs should) they balance the body. What next? That is all, Tinks. Billikins suggests that you put one or two on the trees in your garden so that visitors think you have pet owls. Isn’t that just like a boy? Good-bye, Tinks, and happy days.—Tinker Bell.

A JOKE.
