COMBINED SCHOOL PICNIC. The Fraser Road school this year combined with the Rotokare school for their annual picnic, which was held in the bush on Mrs. R. T. Thompson’s property on Friday. The weather was all that could be desired and a most enjoyable day was spent by the large crowd present. The children were well catered for, being supplied with ice-cream and fruit, and an extensive programme of races was run, while the adults were enjoying themselves at cricket and other games. Fraser Road made 20 in the first innings and 9 in the second, T .inn’s bowling being against scoring. Normanby made 40 in a single innings. The Fraser Road dairy factory is about seven cheeses a day ahead of this time last year. Mrs. L. A. Jennings and her two daughters met with an accident while spending a holiday at Greytown. A collision occurred between the car they were travelling in and another vehicle. The other car was badly smashed and Mrs. Jennings received a cut over the eye necessitating stitches. Other occupants were badly bruised but they had a fortunate escape from more serious injury.
