POSSIBILITY OF OIL STRIKE
MOTUROA BORING PROCEEDS. RECOMMENCEMENT OF DRILLING. There is a possibility that oil may be struck at any time in Moturoa Oilfields Ltd.’s No. 3 bore on the New Plymouth foreshore, where drilling was recommenced yesterday morning. The well was cemented to a depth of 2052 feet on January 26 and has been idle since then in order to allow the cement to set. With only about 30 feet more to be drilled before the required depth is reached, all members of the staff were keenly interested yesterday. The managing director of the company, Mr. C. N. Taylor, was at the bore all day with' Mr. K. E. Pedersen, the drilling supervisor, watching progress. Mr. Pedersen said it might takfe a few hours to drill to the required depth, but it might also take as long as two months. It depended entirely upon the drilling conditions.
