HIKURANGI MINE CLOSING
CONTRACT AS ALTERNATIVE. CONTINUED LOSS IN OPERATIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. . , Whangarei, Feb. 13. It is unofficially reported that as the outcome of a conference between the miners' executive and the Hikurangi Coal Company officials the latter decided to give a fortnight’s notice ,to all their employees consequent upon continued losses in operations, but offering the men the alternative of taking the mine over on a contract basis, the company to supply the surface staff. It is expected that the notices will be served to-day.
