KAPONGA RIFLE CLUB

the ANNUAL MEETING HELD. The annual meeting of the Kaponga Defence Rifle Club was held on Friday evening, when the president, Mr. S. J. Hollard, presided over a good attendance. Sympathy was expressed with the family of the late Mr. A. J. Dempsey, who had been an enthusiastic member of the club for many years. The club won the shield from the New Plymouth Club, but after Kaponga had defended it in matches against Patea and Okato the New Plymouth club won it back again. A considerable amount of shooting was carried out during the season. The championship cup was won by D. Hollard after tying with G. R. Smith. E. M. Izett won the handicap championship cup and the Harrison Memorial Cup was won by the late A. J. Dempsey, who also won the Elgar trophy. The most successfsul marksman to compete at outside meetings was J. F. McCarthy, who was first for the long range cup at Nejv Plymouth, second.
