TOO OLD AT TWENTY

FIELD. - ;,V • , -, ■ F’.-'t For six years she has been the world’s ice-skating champion, for three years she has won the European title, and twice she has been Olympic champion. And she is not quite twenty. But Sonja Henie has had enough. She is tired of going to bed early. She is afraid that life will .. pass her by while she is cutting graceful figures on the ice. So after this winter she is never going to enter another competition. “If'Twin the world’s.championship in January,” she said, “it will be the seventh; time, and that is enough for Besides, I' am getting old (at twenty!!, and I am tired of going to bed so early every night. I want to do something else for a change. I should like to go to a theatre once in a while. As it is now I am always in strict training, summer and winter, and after all, there are many other things in the world besides championships.” Sonja Henie wants to become a dancer —ballet and tango. But she intends to do her dancing on skates. She is breaking away from all ice skating traditions, and, in December she is going to dance of skates Pavlova’s “Dying Swan.”
