“ALICE IN WONDERLAND”

“WELCOME” PARTY BY THE Y.W.CA. A very interesting and pleasant evening was spent by 45 Girl Guides and £r friends at the Y.W.C.A. hall, New Plymouth, last night. The function was an “Alice in Wonderland” party as a welcome to Miss Davena Bates, formerly of Christchurch, who is now assisting the secretary, Miss M. Greenwell in organising and carrying out Y.W.C.A. work in New Plymouth. A visit was paid to the party by Miss J. Stevenson, National Secretary of the Y.W.C.A. in New Zealand, who was warmly greeted by the girls. Miss Stevenson gave a short address upon the civic duties of the Girl Citizens, showing how that movement might co-bper-ate in creating better citizenship. Games, songs and supper concluded the evening’s entertainment.
