NEW ZEALAND’S CURRENCY
“MR. STEWART’S DIFFICULTY.*, OPINION OF LONDON TIMES. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 16 pjn. London, Feb. 13. Tn a leader on New Zealand currency the Times expresses the opinion that the difficulty of Mr. W. Downie Stewart’s position was that he could suggest no alternative. The Government’s endeavour had been to secure by equitable sacrifices all round a reduction of costs in order to meet the fall in prices. MsStewart’s hope of higher prices were unfortunately disappointed. ‘7 “If the Government’s decision helps New Zealand farmers to make both ends tneet British trade manufacturers may also hope to reap some share of the benefits,” the Times adds.
