INGLEWOOD NEWS.
CONVICTION OF THEFT. (From. Our Own Correspondent). Arrested on Thursday evening by Constable Longbottom, and brought before Messrs. J. Gibbs and R. Stuart, J.’sP., yesterday morning, William James Newman, alias William Logan, was convicted of theft and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Newman was also charged with being unlawfully on the Presbyterian Church premises. On this charge ’he was convicted and discharged. Constable Longbottom stated that the theft was of a particularly mean nature. The accused had sought and secured assistance from an Inglewood farmer. When leaving, however, he had possessed himself of the farmer’s razor. He pleaded guilty when charged.
