The Paritutu did not leave Wellington on Monday night owing to northerly weather, and will stay in port until the conditions are more favourable. ■ OVERSEAS SHIPS’ MOVEMENTS. CORNWALL DELAYED. The Cornwall, from Port Chalmers, will not arrive at New Plymouth until Saturday to load 20,800 freight carcases of meat. ~ The Cornwall will proceed to Opua from New Plymouth. ELISE AND VARDAAS. The oil tankers Elise and Vardaas, now en route to New Zealand from Singapore and San Francisco respectively, are scheduled to call at New Plymouth. The Elise is due on February 8 and the Vardaas on February 12. The Elise has 2500 tons of first grade motor spirit and the Vardaas 2500 tons-.of second grade spirit. LONDON’S SHIPPING. During the . week ended December 9, 1079 vessels, representing 931,157 net register tons, used the Port of London; 452 vessels (725,968 net register tons) were to and from colonial and foreign ports, and 627 vessels (205,189 net register tons) were engaged in coastwise traffic. Twenty-two vessels, totalling 218,229 gross register tons, used the Tilbury passenger landing stage during November.
