LIVESTOCK SALES. FEILDING VALUES BETTER. Lambs and fat sheep sold well under keen competition at Feilding on Friday. The prices realised reflected the recent rise in the exchange rate. Beef values showed little change. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report prices as follow: Fat ewes, 6s lid to 9s 7d; fat wethers, 12s 7d to 14s 2d; twotooths, to 13s 3d; lambs, 12s 6d, 12s lid to 14s lOd.

The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated January 30, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Tallow: Market very quiet on- spot, with no material change in values. Market steadier for shipment at the lower prices established. Hemp:—Manila: Market quiet and easier on account of the exchange. * K grade for March-May shipment sold early this week at £l6. At the close sellers of January-March shipment asked £l5 15s. Sisal: Market steady. No. 1 for Febru-ary-April shipment sold £l5; and for March-May shipment, £l5 ss. New Zealand: Market is easier on account of the exchange. Small business has been done in February-March shipment, Fair £l2 5s and common £ll 15s closing sellers. DEARER SUGAR. WHOLESALE RATES HIGHER. An increase of 10s a ton in the wholesale price of sugar was announced last week by the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Limited. All grades of raw and refined sugars, golden syrup and treacle are affected by the alteration, but the prices of tablet and icing sugar remain unchanged. Details of the new scale of prices are: Brewers’ crystals, £22 10s a ton; No. .1, coarse grain, £2l 15s; No. IA, fine grain, £2l; No. 2, soft, £2O 10s; No. 3, yellow ration, £l9 10s; castor sugar, £1 4s 3d per cwt; invert sugar, £l9 a ton. The old scale of prices was introduced on October 18, when a decrease of 5s a ton was announced. Prior to that change, a decrease of 10s a ton had become operative on October 1, counteracting an increase of 10s announced on August 12. There had been a previous increase of £1 on July 1, following a reduction of 10s a ton on May 14. On April 15 last year there was a reduction of £1 on prices which had ruled since September 21, .1931, when there was an increase of £5 a ton following a rise in Customs duty imposed on July 30 of that year, CROP STANDARD FOR N.S.W.
