GARDEN PARTY AT “MARANUI.”
VICTORIA LEAGUE FUNCTION. The Victoria League’s garden party was held at New Plymouth yesterday, there being a good attendance at “Maranui,” the residence of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. List. Through the courtesy of the Newton King estate, “Brooklands” was also open to the visitors and both grounds were gay and pretty. Herbacious borders and a good show of pink hydrangeas in the gully at “Maranui” were inspected with ■ delight. The visitors were welcomed by Mrs. A. C. H. Collins, president of the New Plymouth Victoria League, and Mrs. T. C. List. During the afternoon tea was served on the lawn , and in the shrubbery. Competitions were won as follows: Golf croquet, Mrs. W. J. Ewart and Archdeacon Evans; target croquet, Mrs. W. J. Ewart; ladder croquet, Miss Aline Wells; trail croquet, Mrs. A. S. Clark; zig-zag croquet, Miss Irene Foreman.
