He had served in the Army over seven years and was still loyal. The hearing was adjourned. Captain Thompson was reported to have been shot by Singh as he wa« reading on the verandah of his bungalow at Kirkee. One shot was fired pointblank from a rifle and another was fired at Mrs. Blake, wife of Captain Blake, of the same regiment, who was standing beside Captain Thompson. The bullet narrowly missed her head. It was alleged that Singh then went to a neighbouring bungalow, apparently' intending to shoot Captain Peacock. Singh was believed to have committed suicide in a river, but later was arrested.
