CYCLING AT INGLEWOOD

SECOND MEETING OF SERIES. The Inglewood Cycle Club held the second of its series of races for trophies at Jubilee Park on Thursday. The races resulted:— Three-quarter mile B grade: G. Parker 20yds 1, J. Zimmerman scr. 2, E. Standing scr. 1 3; time, Im. 53 2-ss. One mile: G. Parker 150yds and C. Burke scr. dead-heat 1, J. Zimmerman 130yds 3; time, 2m. 325. Two miles: G. Parker 200yds 1, Zimmerman. 210yds 2, L. Standing 250yds 3; time 6m. 10s. ‘C. Burke (scr.) caught the otHer riders on the last lap, but when, about 100 yards from the finish he caffie down heavily with E. Standing on top. Neither were hurt. A meeting of the-Inglewood district dental clinic committee was held ,at the school on Wednesday , evening. Mr. S. Lovell was elected chairman in place of Mr 1 . McKinney, who has left the district. The secretary (Mr. H. Patterson) reported that three new schools, Tarata, Kaimiro and Everett Road, had joined. After considerable discussion it was decided that a party telephone wire be erected to the clinic, provided the Inglewood School Committee is agreeable. It was decided to ask the Education Department to erect a gateway. at the comer of the school grounds near the clinic. The levies for the half-year were struck. CLUB NIGHT FOR SWIMMING. Several races were contested at the Inglewood Swimming Club’s club night on Wednesday and resulted as follows: Ladies, 50 yards: J. Alleman scr. 1, C. Devereux 3s. 2, P. Partridge 3s. 3. Ladies, 25 yards: P. Partridge 2s. 1, D. Alleman 2s. 2, J. Alleman scr. 3. Men, 50 yards: H. McLaggan 3s. 1, J. Ryan scr. 2, H. Pyne ss. 3. Boys, 25 yards: P. Buckthought 1, H. Pyne 2, J. Allen 3. A polo practice was held.
