DOUGLAS SOCIAL CREDITS
NEW PLYMOUTH MEETING. AN ADDRESS AND RESOLUTION. ■An address on the claims of the Douglas social credits scheme for consideration in the replacement of the present monetary system, which he claimed was obsolete, was given at New Plymouth last night by Dr. G. Smith, of Rawene, JiokianS a - Nearly 100 people listened to the outline of the scheme with keen interest. Mr. Hall Thompson, secretary of the Hokianaga Douglas Credit Association, presided in the absence of the Mayor (Mr. H. V. S. Griffiths), and other wellknown public men who were unable to attend through prior engagements. Dr. Smith followed closely on the lines of his Hawera address, a report of which appeared in yesterday’s Daily News. . - On the motion of Mr. J. H. Holm, seconded by Mr. G. J. Lawrence, it was unanimously decided to' request the Mayor to forward the following resolution to the Prime Minister: That the Government be urged to institute a free and open investigatipri into the present monetary system and that it be indicated that the people’s credit belongs to the people and not. to the private banks.”
