. The inter-State Citrus Growers’ convention at Gosford discussed the New Zealand embargo on Australian fruit. The convention passed a resolution directing the Prime Minister’s attention to the seriousness of the position and urging immediate action with a view to lifting the embargo. Mr. F. Metiers, chairman of the Citrus Council of Australia, declared that the New Zealand embargo constituted the most serious setback that citrus growers had suffered in recent years and would mean that 300,000 bushels of citrus fruits would have to be diverted to local markets, whch were Unusually glutted.
