COOLER WEATHER.
WINDS BACKING TO SOUTHERLY.

Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be changeable and somewhat squally with showers to-night in most districts and thunder at places in the South Island, but conditions will improve again to-morrow. Temperatures will be cooler. A secondary depression formed to tne westward during Tuesday night and is likely to .cross the Dominion to-night. An • anti-cyclone over eastern Australia has been losing its intensity. There will be moderate to strong northerly to westerly winds backing soon to southerlies. Seas will be rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits and moderate but rising elsewhere.
