TOURIST OFFICE PRAISED
VISITOR’S COMPLIMENTS. High praise of New Zealand and warm commendation of its Tourist Department were expressed by Major Harold Blake Taylor, C.8.E., at Christchurch. Major Taylor, who was formerly in the Indian Civil Service .as . chief engineer of the Eastern Bengal Railway, and who was later general' manager of the Uganda Railway and a member of the Legislative Council of Kenya, has been nearly two months in New Zealand on a holiday visit.
“I give your Tourist Department top marks,” he remarked. “I have been a Government official all my life, and I know efficiency in Government offices I when I see it. I have been so impressed by the courtesy and efficiency of all. your Government services, and the Tourist Department in particular, that I am. writing to the editor of one of the leading East African papers to tell him all about i it ’’ I - Major Taylor spent a few weeks after his arrival in the Dominion visiting the tourist resorts in the North Island, and fished a little at Taupo.
