TENNIS, SWIMMING, CRICKET.

GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS.

Under the able superintendance of Mr. T. G. Healey, the Ohura Tennis Club’s No. 1 court has been treated with a covering of tar preparation and sand. No. 2 court has been similarly treated around the edges. The old surface on No. 1 was beginning to crack due to the insecure foundations of the court. The condition of No. 3 court is improving as each season’s play evens it out on the surface.

Ladder matches have been very keen this season. Two interesting matches took place for the tops of the ladies’ and men’s ladders. Miss A. McHarrie defeated Mrs. J. Cole, -7—4. W. L. Wagstaff defeated W. K. Williams, 9—4. Both were close, exciting matches, and the results were doubtful all the way. The Ohura River has become a popular resort for both young and old during the hot weather. Every afternoon about 30 to 40 people are to be seen swimming and diving. Much fun is derived from the diving board, which has most of the crowd.
