MONUMENT IN FRANCE
BELIEVED TO DATE TO 10,000 B:C.
Paris, November 10.
Discovery of an important megalithic monument, believed to be a Druidical Sim Temple, has been reported from the commune of Grilly, in the district of Gex, north of Geneva, on the French side of the Franco-Swiss, frontier. The monument, according to the opinion of M. Reiber, Geneva archaeologist, who has visited the site, dates from a period nearly 10,000 years before Christ. It consists of 12 enormous megalithic blocks of granite disposed in a circular fashion supposed to mark the hour of moon in each month of the year. In the centre of the circle formed by the stones is a great granite slab which may have been an altar. A short distance away has been located a cave of considerable dimensions which may have served as a shelter for the Druids during the ceremonies held here, which, according* to scientists, are supposed to have taken place at the times of the solstices.
