INDIA’S GOLD STOCK
VAST HOARD UNTOUCHED.
ACCUMULATION OF 60 YEARS.
Paris, Dec. 20.
In spite of the fact that £80,000,000 worth of gold has been shipped from India during the last year there is still a vast hoard of untouched gold, .estimated at £600,000,000, which has accumulated in India between 1873 and 1931.
Exports have made little impression on this ‘‘sink of gold,” neither have they affected women’s gold ornaments, which are still worn, lavishly by the upper classes.
