£240,000,000 TAXES DUE
APPEAL TO BRITISH PATRIOTISM.
EARLY PAYMENT AGAIN SOUGHT.

British income tax and surtax payers are being invited to repeat their performance of the corresponding quarter last year when in order to assist balancing the Budget they paid instalments due with unprecedented promptitude, contributing £265,000,000 to the Exchquer during the three months. That patriotic effort helped largely in the restoration of the national finances. The amount of income tax to be paid between now and the end of the financial year on March 31 if the Budget estimate is reached is £191,419,000, and of surtax £50,830,000. The standard income tax rate is 5s in the £l.
