Yesterday good quality’ oranges were selling in . city shops at six for Is and cherries at from Is to Is 9d a chip. Commenting on the embargo on Australian fruit, Mr. Harvey Turner, man-aging-director of Turners and Growers, Limited, fruit and produce merchants, said yesterday that the supply of oranges should be sufficient for the Christmas and New Year trade, but it was inevitable that prices would rise. He hoped a settlement would be reached as it would be most serious if the public could not be supplied with oranges.
