SHOPPING ARRANGEMENTS
NEW PLYMOUTH ALTERATIONS. As Christmas Day and New Tear’s Day fall on Sundays a variation has been necessary in the holiday arrangements for shops in New Plymouth. The usual late nights on the Fridays will not be observed, the shops being closed for the day at 5.30 p.m. and on New Year’s Eve they will remain open all day till 10 p.m. The shops will re-open, after the Christmas vacation on Wednesday and will close for the New Year holidays from January 1 to Tuesday, January 3, inclusive. The Saturday, half-holiday will be reverted to on January 7, when the shops will close at *12.30 p.m. Hotels will be open on the Mondays for business. Although the Licensing. Act, 1908, provides that licensed premises shall close on Christmas Day, there js no provision for the observance of the official holiday on the Monday when Christinas Day falls on * Sunday. , _
