THURSDAY CRICKET MATCH. INGLEWOOD PLAY NEW PLYMOUTH A practice match between the Inglewood Thursday cricket eleven and a New Plymouth team was played at Western Park, New Plymouth, yesterday. The New Plymouth team proved too strong for Inglewood, and although the first few wickets fell cheaply, Medley and L. M. Larkin, with 52 and 51 retired respectively, put New Plymouth in a good position which was later strengthened by a partnership between McKoy and Ninkie. The details are:— - INGLEWOOD. i , ‘ P. SEMI-REPRESENTATIVE MATCH. . With the approach of the holidays the ordinary North Taranaki cricket competitions have been suspended. In their place a match will be played at Western Park on Saturday , between a. team composed of senior B players of 'New Plymouth clubs and . an eleven made up of the younger players in the senior teams. The teams are:— Colts' team: Crapper, Larkin, PurceU (New Plymouth), Elmes (C’-d Boys), Duff, Morris, Stapleton, Spedding (West-ern-Park), Waters, Ewart, Evers-Swin-dell (High Birch, Christensen and Larkin (High School), haying been chosen to represent Taranaki, were , not considered. Otago to. the personnel of the Wellington cricket team because it includes McGirr and Lambert. Otago bases its objection to all three playing for Wellington at one time on a rule relating to the inclusion of professional cricketers in Plunket Shield teams. There is. a rule which precludes more than one professional being included but it applies specificially to non-resident professionals (overseas players engaged to coach in New Zealand without becoming permanently resident here). .
