NEW PLYMOUTH LEAGUE RESULTS. RECORD HALF-MILE CYCLE. Another very interesting- evening’s sports was provided at Pukekura Park last evening, conducted 1 ' by the New Plymouth Cycling and Athletic League. Gordon (14). 3. Time, 7 2-ss. Won easily. 220 yards: L. Hoffman (35yds.) 1, N. Gordon (40) 2, A. Reeve (40) 3. Won easily,, .one yard between second and. third. Time, 21 2-ss. 880 yards: S. Plucke retired with strap trouble. N. Bellringer (40). Won easily by 15 yards, with 25 yards between second and third. ■ Time, Im. 2 l-ss. ' This time is a record for the ground,- which is in very fast order. . . ' . , Two-mile cycle: A. Ellis (80yds., virtual scratch) 1, G; Plucke (200) 2, B. Berryman (280) .3; Also started: B. Sole (280), T,_ Lambeth (280), G. Tuffery (200, fell), D. Beer (100), R. Yardley (80), N. Bellringer (120). Ellis left the back men after three, laps and caught up a big break on to the leaders alone. He was with the leaders- with three laps to go and won easily, with two lengths between second and third. Time, sm. 17s. Eight laps points scratch race, cycle (points allotted every second lap, 3 for first; two for secondhand one for third, and. the final lap, six for first, four for second and two for third): The starters were R. Yardley, N. Bellringer, A. Ellis, D. Beer, Des George, G. Plucke, B; Berryman, B. Sole, L. Lambeth and G. Tuffery. The order at the end of the first two laps'was-Ellis, Plucke, Yardney; at four laps, Beer, Ellis, Yardley; at six laps, Bib's, Tuffery, . Yardley. With li laps to go George led, and he had a 25yd. lead with the bell for the final lap. Bellringer then took the lead 150. yards from the finish and crossed the line for the final points 20 yards ahead of Yardley, who beat Tuffery by half a length, with George next. The final points were: EHis 8, Yardley 7, Bellringer 6, Tuffery 4 Beer 3, Plucke 2. The points connected with the running for the five nights’ sports are: W. Aubrey 19, Gordon 12, Low 10, Rogers 6, Bowen 6, Fowler 5, S. Wilson 4, Reeve 4, Hoffman 6. Series will be arranged for. sprint running races, distance running and A. and B. grade cycling when, the'sports commence on January {ll. Trophies will be given-in . each case; ■• / .
