WOMAN SENT TO PRISON
CREDIT OBTAINED BY FRAUD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Dec. 21. Charged with false pretences, Olive Forbes Goodwin was to-day sentenced by Mr. E. Page, S.M., to six months’ imprisonment on each of two charges, the sentences to be concurrent. William Edwin Goodwin, her husband, was jointly charged, but the magistrate said there was no satisfactory evidence on which he could convict the man. The cases arose out of valueless cheques for £ll Ils and £2 15s. Mrs. Goodwin had a long list of offences of obtaining credit by fraud and vagrancy.
