A FORTNIGHT’S HOLIDAY
PAYMENT FOR RELIEF WORKERS. HALF-FARE FROM CAMPS. Work will cease in the various relief camps at the end of this week, and thereafter the men. will be given a fortnight’s holiday at the usual rates of relief pay. The camps affected in Taranaki will be the three for single men—two in the Opunake district and one at Whangamomona—and the three Public Works camps for married men at Carrington Road, Waitara and Mohakatino. The Unemployment Board has arranged to pay half the fares for the men from the camps to the towns from which they entered the camps or to their home towns, whichever rre nearest. Men working under the No. 5 scheme will also receive a fortnight’s holiday on pay from Saturday. Arrangements regarding payment during the two weeks are in the hands of the local authorities concerned, and it is understood that they will spread the payments rather than pay them in lump* sums.
