Jackson read a letter stating that several Japanese firms had instructed; ■< their buyers not to buy • New ,, wool'on account of the wool bales being sewn with twine. ■ ■ - The matter was referred to the N«w Zealand Woolbrokers’ Association its comment, and the president, accord- •. r ing to a communication read at the Walrarapa Provincial Executive to-d*y» ’ ■? has replied in the following terms;--' “The steel clips are not new to New • Zealand and several experiments have been made in past years by brokers, who consider the clips are unsuitable for New Zealand wools, which are very J? ‘springy’ as compared with Australian Merinos. Neither the present packs nor wool-presses could be used nor the present method of stacking and stowing crossbred bales on their sides and in tiers be continued if the clips were adopted.”
