CONCERT AT KOHURATAHI

EXCELLENT/PROGRAMME GIVEN.

The Kohuratahi/schoolj wasjp/icked on Tuesday ; iiight. .wheh the.' annual: prize-, giving concert was held. The school was decorated with ferns and paper streamers, the latter being made.by the children. Despite the many changes of teachers during the year, Mr. O’Dea (present teacher) decided hot: to. . disappoint the children and although the programme was short the items were; excellently rendered, especially the duet by Gwen and Fay Connor, who looked charming in their period costumes,' while their voices were colourful and resonant. Appreciation of the assistance given by several residents was mentioned by Mr. O’Dea. At the conclusion of the programme the Rev. K. Hamilton presented each child with a prize, and complimented Mr. O’Dea on the excellence of the concert. The programme was as follows: Opening chorus, “God Defend New Zealand”; song, “The Soldier,” Donald Gower; song, “My Old Shako,” Mr. G. Gower; recitation, “The Man and His Wife,” Allan Wyatt; song, “There’s a Lad,” Mr. O’Dea; duet, “The Keys of Heaven,” Gwen and Fay Connor; song, Miss J. Naim; chorus, “Will Ye Go to Sherriffmuir,” children; recitation, “Jack Frost,” Elva Corbett; recitation, “Poor Tom,” Gerald Gower; dialogue, “Breaking it Gently,” Miss West and Mr. J,. Stockwell;'violin solo, Mr. J. McAllister;- chorus, “E Pari Ra,” children; chorus, “Hoea Ra,” children. After supper the school room was cleared, and dancing was enjoyed until well after midnight.
