CLUB’S WEEKLY SPORTS MEETING.
NEW EVENTS FOR BOYS POPULAR.
The Patea Athletic Club’s Wednesday programme was run in a strong westerly breeze at the Patea Domain yesterday. Keen finishes were the rule. The addition of the boys’ events proved gratifying, exceptional keenness being apparent. Eight events were run, Mr. C. J. Gardiner being handicapper and starter. The details are:—

Hills 3. Time, 28s. 600 yards men: L. Edwards (35yds.) 1, H. Ellis (10yds) 2, D. Paterson* (syds.) 3. Time, Im. 19 3-ss. SPORTS OFFICIALS APPOINTED. MEETING OF THE PATEA -CLUB. Mr. P. S. Finlayson presided at the meeting of the Patea Amateur Athletic Club on Tuesday. The donation of two cups by the Herbert Smith trust for competition among the younger boys and girls was reported, the club’s appreciation being recorded. The Patea Municipal Band expressed willingness to play at the annual sports on Boxing Day. Officers appointed to assist at the sports were: Manager, Mr. Finlayson; handicapper and starter, Mr. C. J. Gardiner; timekeepers, Father Hegarty, Messrs. J. F. D. Winchester and G., Williams; judges, Messrs. F. S. McKenna, J. D. and J. H. Fairweather and P. C. Hamblyn; stewards, Messrs. I. A. Jones, I. W. Glenhy, J. A. Drummond, W. D. Anderson, H. S. Pauling, A. E. Wainwright, J. F. O’Grady, E. Hunt, T. Nelson, T. Floyd, T. Jackson, W. T. Lamb; Highland event stewards, Messrs. W. T. Lamb and A. W.
