PATEA AND DISTRICT RESULTS. PATEA STATE SCHOOL. To entertain the cricketers from the Feilding Agricultural High School an enjoyable social and dance was given by the pupils of the' Hawera High School in the Rewa rooms, Hawera, on Tues-day-evening. For several years this annual contest had been held and Iras always been waged in the friendliest spirit, said the principal, Mr. A. Gray, in extending an official welcome to the visitors and expressing. thanks to them. He regretted that owing to his retirement this was the last such, match he would see as, principal of the school. Replies for the visitors were made by Messrs. S. LeitchJ head prefect, and R. Burgess, captain of the team, after which Mr. B. Thomas replied on behalf of the Hawera team. The Feilding team returned by yesterday’s- mail train. ADVERTISERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS. A Stratford company will present “In Old Arabia” at Manaia on Tuesday next and the proceeds will be devoted to the Christmas cheer fund. This production met with distinct success when it was staged at Stratford and offers high class entertainment at low prices. “The Pirates of Penzance” will be presented in the Hawera Opera House tonight by the girls of the Hawera High School.
