THREAT TO INTERRUPTERS.

There was- a large attendance at , St. James’ Theatre, Auckland, on Sunday evening, when a mission meeting was conducted by Mr. A. H. Dallimore, The evangelist read extracts from several, letters testifying to healing and other benefits received, and in some cases the writers responded to a request to stand and make themselves known. Mr. Dallimore told of a widow in Vancouver whose only son died of double pneumonia. On returning to his room the mother found the boy “sitting on the edge of the bed hauling on his trousers. Two days afterward he went off to the mountains 100 per cent., healed. Mr. Dallimore claimed to have known them both well. The speaker made no reference to the report of the committee of inquiry into his work, but claimed that “the power” had come in exactly the same way in the historic revivals of Wesley, Charles Finney, General Booth and Evan Roberts. ’ , At the close of his address members of the audience crowded on to the stage for more than half an hour, and with but few exceptions fell to the floor under his touch. Not a few tiny children were included among the “patients.” “This laddie had a cataract over the left eye. Praise the Lord. The Lord has touched him,” said the preacher, as a boy fell. Slight applause from the gallery when people did not fall down annoyed the evangelist considerably. “Power may fall up there,, friends,” he called out. “You just wait . a while. You may have to come down here with cancer yet yourself. God is listening.” Several men on the platform testified to having given up smoking under the influence of the mission, but the most remarkable statement made by Mr. Dallimore concerned a woman whom he brought forward on the stage. He said she had been gored by a bull through the arm and side 13 years ago. Tumours formed, and after seven operations “organs had been cut away until she was practically next door to empty. Her heart had practically collapsed, her eyesight was defective, and one arm was shortened. Now both arms were the same length and she was completely healed from head to foot. A girl on the ground floor fell down between the seats, and several times gave vent to strange shoutings in an unintelligible tongue. The service closed as usual with the singing of the Doxology, while there still remained on. the platform a number of figures, some of them twitching spasmodically. .
