NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB NIGHT.
SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMME RUN.
The weekly evening meeting- of the New Plymouth Athletic Club yesterday was easily the most successful so :far this season. The fields were excellent and the finishes in all cases close. The cycle riders are increasing every week, and there were eight competitors in the halfmile.
Following are the results: 75 yards senior: G. Taylor (Byds) 1, J. Kinsella (7yds) 2, N. J. Webster (6yds) 3. A splendid finish, inches separating the first four. •Half-mjle cycle: V. Ambury (60yds) 1, J. Donaldson (40yds) 2, C. Hawkins (3Q yds) 3. This was a great race. Ambury made full use of hisr start but they were all in it at tire top oFthe straight, and two lengths would have covered the whole field at the finish. Ladies’ 100 yards: Miss N. - Clark (7yds) 1, Miss B. Bigwood (9yds) 2, , Miss M. Stevens (6yds) 3.
Miss Clark was very smartly away, and taking charge half way went on to win by three yards. , 300 yards,senior: R. Boucher (30yds) 1, S. A. Black (3yds) 2, H. ,L. Thomson (19 yds) 3. Time, 31 4-ss. Pankhurst , led to the straight entrance, but then Boucher and Thomson challenged, and Black, who struck trouble in* the. straight entrance, made a great effort. Boucher won by a foot, with Thomson right up third. Two mile cycle: R.L. Reed (70yds) 1, C. Hawkins' (150yds) 2, C. B. .Olliver (175 yds) 3. Time, 5m 9 3-ss. The field was bunched after going about three laps. Reed took charge with a circuit to go, but had to do his best to stall off Hawkins. ' 880 yards: T. Gray (80yds) 1, F. M. White (140yds) 2, J. Insull (90yds) 3. Time, 2m 0 3-ss. The limit man, White, held his place until the last hundred yards, where Gray and InsUll both passed him, "but White came again, and just beat Insull- for second place. x One .and g' half mile cycle: R, L. r Reed (35yds)TjJ‘C B. .Olliver (90yds) .2/ N.
