ANNUAL MEETING OF COUNCIL: INTERNATIONAL TOURS PLANNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The annual meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held, to-night The following officers were elected: President, Mr. W. E. D. Bishop; deputy-president, Mr. D. Coulter; North Island representative,'Mr. P. Coira; treasurer, Mr. F. G. Dunn; representative on international federation, Mr. John Hodgson; handicapper, Mr. Coira; auditor, Mr. R. L. Hicks; secretary, Mr. B._ O’Neill; representatives on New Zealand, Olympic Council, Messrs. Coira, N. McCartney and Camp. It was decided that the collection of registration fees should be suspended for the current season. Several centres wrote expressing approval of the suggestion that American swimmers should be invited to tour th® Dominion this season. It was decided to make inquiries as to the cost of a tour by Japanese swimmers, and to ascertain from the Australian union whether the American swimers who are to visit Australia this season will be available to visit the Dominion at the conclusion of their Australian engagements. A ruling was given that amateur swim«« mers who accept positions as paid beach patrols will lose their amateur status and will be ineligible for reinstatement.
