About 8847 were sold. There was a good selection of Merinos, which was cleared. There was good home and Continental demand and a firm tone, influenced by the Australian sales. . BUTTER MARKET STILL FIRM. SHILLING FALL IN QUOTATIONS. The following cable bn the condition of the London dairy market was received at New Plymouth yesterday:— • Anglo-Continental Produce Co. Ltd.: The butter market is firm; finest, 91s; first, 90s. The cheese market is steady; white, 645; coloured, 60s. WAIKATO STOCK SALES. PRICES AT FRANKTON. IMPROVEMENT FOR SHEEP. Hamilton, Nov. 30. Quotations remained unchanged for a heavier yarding of ox beef at the weekly Frankton stock sale to-day. Cow and heifer beef was also yarded; in larger numbers, prices easing slightly. Values for store cattle showed no alteration. There was only a small offering of fat sheep, the quotations for both ewes and wethers showing an improving tendency. A medium yarding of lambs sold at last week’s rates. Fat pigs, of which there was a full- entry, remained firm at last week’s values» while the prices
for stores and weaners improved slightly. PRICES IN LONDON, The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated November 26; from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: Tallow: Market steady at last quotations.' . Hemp: Manila, market quiet with hardening tendency on account of falling sterling. Sellers asking for “K” grade, for December-February shipment, £l6 10s. Sisal: Market quiet. Decem-ber-February shipment, No. 1 good marks, value £l4 ; 10s to £l4 15s, and No; 1 fair average quality, £l4 ss. New Zealand: Little more offering, but no first-hand sales reported. Nominal value for November-January shipments, high points, £l5; common, £l2 15s. Eggs: Market quiet and-weaker. English: National -pack, 17s to 225; English, ordinary pack, 18s to 20s; Danish, 15s to . 20s; Australian, 141 b to 171 b per long hundred, Ils to 13s. Lower prices have been accepted. New Zealand: S.s. Port Huon consignment has arrived and few sold early this week, 151 b per long hundred, 12s 6d to 13s lOd, 161 b per long hundred 12s lOd to 14s 3d, 171 b per long hundred 13s 7d to 14s 6d, 181 b per long-hundred, .15s 3d to 15s (id.
