CUSTOMS DUTIES LOWER

THE PORT OF NEW PLYMOUTH

DECREASE ON LAST NOVEMBER.

INCREASE OVER 11 MONTHS.

Customs duties collected at the port of New Plymouth during November show a decrease of. £1222 19s. 3d. when compared with'the same month of last year. In only one other month of this year, February, have the returns been less than in the corresponding month of last year. During November £4BlB 12s. 2d. was collected while in the same month of 1931 the amount was £6041 Ils. sd. The customs duties collected in November, 1931, were the second highest in the 11 months.

The increase during the first 11 months of 1932 as. against the same period of 1931, however, is substantial, being over £7300. Following is a comparative summary of

PETROL TAX SHOWS INCREASE. YEAR’S TOTAL LESS BY £4700. For the fourth month in the year the amount of petrol tax collected shows an increase on the same month of last year, the increase, amounting to £197 2s. 9d. as against the figures for November, 1931. Over the 11 completed, months there is a decrease of £4716 10s. sd.

BEER DUTY AGAIN INCREASES. GREATER PRODUCTION REVEALED. Excise duties collected at New Plymouth show still another increase in the amount of beer produced in the district compared with November, 1931, and the total increase for the 11 completed months is over £3OOO. The increase for November as against the same month of 1931 is £35 os. lid.
